Yes. I ask the client to read the book and become very clear on their intention and the visualiztion. The patient's involvement is paramount, I think.

      Sifu Sankey

I believe he has written 4 books, correct?

      He is my son's teacher.

My son showed up at my house while I was in between surgeries for a shattered calcaneus and a torn rotator cuff. I had been recovering from the heel bone for 3 months was finally off of the crutches and it was time to fix the shoulder.

My son, applying his lessons, worked on me after the shoulder surgery a couple of times - it was great!

My son reports many results of a more esoteric nature for others as well as physical healing.

        Wow that sounds so interesting.
What are the titles of the books, and where can I find them?

          Book Titles

Mostly they are out of print, but I found the first three at a local book store (my son promised #4 directly from the school), and they can be found on Amazon.

          Mikio Sankey
"Esoteric Acupuncture: Gateway to Expanded Healing (Volume 1)"
"Discern the Whisper: Esoteric Acupuncture (Volume 2)"
"Climbing Jacob's Ladder: Esoteric Acupuncture (Volume 3)"

(I'll find out #4 for you)

Mikio Sankey teaches a class at my school called Esoteric Acupuncture. I took the class. It was very interesting. I was expecting something more esoteric-Taoist, but what he has to say is pretty interesting stuff. Certainly a whole new way of looking at what acupuncture can do. I have yet to use any of his treatments, but I can see how they may be effective for the right sorts of patients.

I've read his first 2 books, met him and had a few treatments from his books. I find the patterns to be amazing! I recommend the sacral tree of life pattern for virtually any back problem (granted the patient is willing to have du 1 needled).

I've studied kabbalah for some years now, so his combination of TCM and kabbalah is epic to me. I think he is really on to something with usage of 5 dimensional hypercube as patterns of intention. I think his work will have a huge impact on TCM in the future, and hope to study with him eventually.

      new or old way?

he claims that it is actually the old way...

that accupuncture did not become a system of treatments for a long list of medical problems until after the arrival of the europeans...

that is to say accupuncture, much like hatha yoga and ayurveda, was always about enlightenment, and he is just trying to bring it back to its roots.

        exactly! roots are the future.

post mao TCM was frozen in terms of development, and most shen-spirit or esoteric treatments were done away with. Indeed the return to them and the development of them are both the roots and future.

not to mention the impact the brits, yanks and others had on things!

Sifu Sankey encourages exploration into this arena because so much of it was lost.

I love doing it! Seeing great results. The Anterior Qi Flow Pattern is so much better than the 4 gates for relaxation.

I've only seen 3 titles from Sankey, if there's a 4th I'd like to know about it.

myself and a friend have been practicing esoteric acupuncture for around 2 years now. It is an incredibly profound treatment style. In our experience, one can work with the patterns at progressively deeper levels according to one's own level of development. It is very very different from 'normal' acupuncture. Not least because one does not work alone when doing this type of treatment; there always seems to be other 'energies' taking an interest and assisting!

Other 'energies' taking an interest and assisting...

that is exactly how my son describes it!

He says he goes into a semi-meditative state where he can feel the energy of the person with his eyes and then allows his hands to be guided to the proper sites... as if he were merely the facilitator.

      And the treatments are wonderful!

      Kewl!

How did you come across it in the UK?
      • I came across Mikio Sanley's books very early on when training in acupuncture - I 'knew' that there had to be more to an energetic baed medicine than simply treating the body or even just on an emotional level; there just had to be! I can't remember how I found the books but as soon as I had I just knew that this was what I had ben looking for.
Treatments using these patterns can be incredibly profound and one can take the energy and really run with it, if one is ready. Alternatively, one can be more passive and simply listen to what the pattern has to teach you. What seems to make a great difference is the intention of the practitioner and the patient - its not something which is 'done to someone' - both actively participate.
Yes - there is always a strong sense that other intelligences are aware of what you are doing when performing these patterns, watching and assisting and actively taking part. We are really being helped when we use these patterns.
Apart from my friend and I, I am not aware of anyone else offering this style in the UK. It still seems very obscure and little known though I think its time has come.

This is now my main style of acu. For chronic conditions I've been starting with the related chakra, waiting a bit, then adding some traditional points. I'm amazed at how I can feel when the points are properly placed, or not.

And it's true about non-physical entities helping. My client yesterday heard someone in the the room with her while I was in the office.

If y'all know someone in the Portland area who would like a EA treatment, send 'em my way!

Hi. I'm finding this thread extremely fascinating. I've been practicing for 5 years now and would like to go deeper into the energetics. I'm starting a medical Qi Gong 2-year intensive this fall and am really looking forward to becoming more energetically grounded myself.

In regards to Esoteric Acupuncture, is it difficult to learn on one's own?

      Blessings, lupin

Ive found it easy to learn just using the books. vols 1 & 2 have most of the info, vol 3 has some extras + has all the patterns laid out and is spiral bound for easy access.

There are a few items that are unclear in the book, i.e. 1 EA extra point location was confusing so I went with intuition on that one. Dr Sankei has been really helpful with clarifications.

I've been blessed with a colleague who is also studying EA. We trade every week. Both of us are noticing some profound changes.

Will you be studying with Johnson(?) the guy who wrote that 1057pp book of love on medical qigong?

I'll be studying medical Qi gong with Francesca Ferrari, one of Johnson's students, and we'll use his text. I'm pretty excited about the course. www.qigongmedicine.com/default.asp

It seems like it would be ideal to learn EA with a study partner. What kind of changes do you notice? How does it differ from the results of TCM acupuncture? What kind of patients do you prefer to use EA on?

I am excited to start that course! I dont know when I'll do it, but I might as well get excited about it now.

Its been great having a partner to trade with so that I have experiential knowlege and can talk about my own experiences.

For myself, the treatments feel different. It's like my brain reboots and when it restarts I've had a software upgrade. And it's not exactly like TCM's
            acu-land, floaty pleasantness.

Ive had a history of a blocked throat chakra. 2x i've had the 'inner spiral pattern' which is on the back of the neck and for speakings one truth. Big difference in me now. I'm am now a great self promoter, communicate more clearly in all aspects of my life and even...want to speak in front of groups! I have NEVER wanted to do that. and now I want to do group healings of some type. :)

And it combines nicely with medical qigong.

I prefer to use EA on the person who has an active spiritual practice, that's when these patterns, IMHO, see the most profound results. I've used the 2nd chakra yang pattern for chronic low back complaints , combining TCM and or qigong with good results. Especially good for lumbar disc problems. But it seems more effective when used as a spiritual expansion tool.

If you wish to learn more about Dr. Sankey's work, look it up at www.esotericacupuncture.com His books are listed there as well. He also is having a seminar in September- I have posted the info below under Events.

He used to teach at the Tao Healing Arts in Santa Monica, CA & I was lucky enough to have him as my TCM teacher and I have had an esoteric acupuncture treatment. I found it to be a profound experience; but I think it's in part that I am sensitive and have an awareness of my energetic body, not just my physical. I recall that when I went to bed that night I had a very fascinating and metaphorical dream. Being that Dr. S worked primarily on my Fire organs (opening up my grinch-ly heart!) the content of the dream was not surprising:

I was wearing a schoolgirl uniform, much like the ones that are worn by girls in the UK. It was plaid pattern, green & black. Over this uniform was a hard silvery metallic armor, much like what a Roman soldier would have worn, with the muscular formation. I saw myself taking off the armor, and it came off easy.

Being a dream interpreter, I knew the meaning behind the symbology of the dream. This dream was indicative to me of some of the heart opening that had taken place as a result of the treatment, and I'm grateful for that.
